Management Team

LAURA LIERAS - TERRAIN MANAGER AND EL JARDIN MANAGER

Hi! I’m Madison Lawrence - a SCUBA MSDT instructor, teacher and new mom of twin girls! I’ve traveled extensively for both exploration and diving, I’ve worked with a team to disentangle whales, spent many hours in a lab researching plankton and most recently teaching others to scuba dive! Encouraging others to be involved with the ocean in any capacity is my dream. As a past head teacher of San Diego with Tides turned to a co-manager of Lanterns Global, I am thrilled to continue sharing my passion with our communities!

Terrain OC

Ana Rubio - Terrain OC Head Teacher

Hola! I am Maestra Ana. I grew up in a small city in México where my love for language, learning, and the outdoors started when I was a kid. I have a bachelor’s in Speech-Language Pathology and am currently in grad school—I've worked with all ages, but little ones are my favorite!

I love teaching Spanish through play, nature, and connection. Outside of school, you’ll find me hiking, biking, or paddleboarding with my husband and our adventurous pup Pinky—whose stories I love sharing with my students!

ANAI LARRIVA CASTRILLON - Terrain Carp Head Teacher + EL JARDIN CARPINTIERA PRIMARIA HEAD MAESTRA

Hi! My Name is Sabrina La Rue and I am excited to be the head teacher for the Tides program in Palos Verdes! I grew up in the South bay and love the outdoors! When I'm not at work, I enjoy hiking, camping, snorkeling, and tidepooling. I'm often seen with my binoculars around my neck watching for whales and birds, or with my pocket microscope crouched over some algae or small animals on the rocks! I earned my bachelor's degree in Marine Biology from California State University Long Beach, and for the last few years I have worked as an Outreach Educator at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro. I love meeting new people and I look forward to meeting the students that will be joining the program!

Terrain Hawaii- O’ahu

Amanda Brown - Terrain Hawaii Head Teacher

Hello! My name is Amanda Brown, and I am thrilled to be teaching the Terrain Honolulu program here on the island of Oʻahu. I am a longtime educator, animal lover, mother, and military spouse. After earning my B.S. in Wildlife Conservation from the University of Delaware, I went on to complete my master’s in education and spent nearly a decade teaching middle and high school science in schools across the U.S.

I take a hands-on, inquiry-based approach to teaching, encouraging my students to build community, persevere through challenges, and stay curious about the world around them. In 2016, I also earned my 200-hour yoga teacher certification and led an after-school yoga club for several years.

When I’m not teaching, you can find me hiking with my kids, snorkeling, reading, or cooking something delicious. I look forward to sharing adventures with your keiki and helping them discover the joy and wonder of this beautiful ʻāina.
