Jardín is a four-hour drop-off Spanish immersion experience for children grades TK-6th, located at the amazing Totem Ranch Co., in Ojai. The program studies thematic units, Spanish vocabulary, outdoor learning, sustainability, gardening, and art — all in a Spanish immersion environment. At El Jardín, students will begin with an opening circle time: calendar time, show and tell, complete with morning singing, dancing, and book/poem time. Next comes our Spanish thematic study time, where students learn ten new vocabulary words each week (all part of the semester-long theme), followed by an engaging activity and/or games to reinforce this week's vocabulary. Next comes gardening and/or nature studies time. After lunch and recess, students will end the day with a nature-based art project each day. El Jardín is not a Spanish class where students open a textbook and focus on grammar. It is a hands-on, engaging Spanish experience which spans the entire 4 hours through a variety of activities. This is a small group class of up to 14 students per group, led by our amazing Spanish teachers (Head Maestra and Assistant Maestra).
Class offered:
Mixed Group (TK–6th): Students learn new weekly Spanish vocabulary, letters, colors, calendars, and numbers; and they enjoy “dirt play,” gardening, art, story time, singing, and dancing — all in a Spanish immersion environment.

Come for one day or for both days! Families are strongly encouraged to come both days for better language acquisition.
El Jardín is a year-long program, with fall and spring semesters, with classes meeting from 10 am to 2 pm. Families must sign up for each semester separately.
