Heartland Charter Families: Approved enrollment options and attendance limits differ from our standard offerings. Please read below, our Heartland Charter Information Page for approved Heartland program options.

Welcome Heartland Families. Please see the below details that are designed to be specifically in-line with Heartland Charter School Rules and Regulations:

  1. Only Approved Heartland Location: San Luis Obispo- Avila Valley Barn

  2. Only Approved and Available Programs (Heartland students may enroll in only one of the approved attendance pathways listed below. Enrollment beyond these options is not permitted.):

    • Farm to Table (1 day)

    • Farm to Table (2 days)

    • El Jardín (1 day)

    • El Jardín (2 days)

    • One day Farm to Table + One day El Jardín

  3. Maximum attendance: 2 days per week

  4. Maximum attendance: 10 hours per week

  5. Heartland students may only participate in the approved San Luis Obispo-Avila Valley Barn programs listed on this page and may not enroll in other Lanterns Global locations or programs.

  6. Lanterns Global LLC's San Luis Obispo programs are designed as supplemental homeschool enrichment opportunities and are not intended to replace a family's homeschool program or function as a school.

El Jardín

El Jardín is a four-hour drop-off Spanish immersion experience for children grades TK-6th grade located at the amazing Avila Valley Barn + Farm, in San Luis Obispo. The program studies thematic units, Spanish vocabulary, outdoor learning, sustainability, gardening, and art — all in a Spanish immersion environment. These are small group classes of up to 14 students per group, led by our two amazing Spanish teachers (Head Meastra and Assistant Maestra).

Program offered:

  • Mixed Age Group (TK–6th): Students learn new weekly Spanish vocabulary, letters, colors, and numbers; and they enjoy “dirt play,” art, story time, singing, and dancing — all in a Spanish immersion environment. 

    DETAILS:

    We meet Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, for 4 hours each day.

    El Jardin is offered through separate fall and spring enrollment periods. Families enroll in each session individually. Families may enroll in one or two program days per week depending on their goals and availability. El Jardin meets from 10am to 2pm.

        • Weather Make-Up Week: December 14 - 19

        • $257/month

      • 2 Day a week program

        • 5 monthly payments (Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, and Dec)


Farm to Table Learning.

Farm to Table is our homeschool support program. It is a five-hour, outdoor drop-off program for children ages 5–11, in a mixed age group pod (or splits into a youngers or olders group- depending on enrollment), each learning around one large table guided by experienced program leaders and educators, located on a working farm, allowing children to learn through the natural rhythms and resources of the land. Designed to support, not replace, homeschooling families, Farm to Table offers academic guidance. Farm to Table provides educational enrichment experiences in Language Arts, Math, Geography, Art, Science, and outdoor exploration are woven into the day through our proposed daily schedule. Learning unfolds with a consistent structure that blends workbook time, read-alouds, discussion, hands-on farm experiences, and child-led exploration.

DETAILS:
