Terrain is a four hour drop-off, outdoor forest school program for children located in Carpinteria along the beautiful Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve, among the majestic eucalyptus and cypress groves and the wildflower fields. Terrain is a small group, child-led, outdoor exploration and nature play program. What sets Terrain apart is our 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio. Children get to hike, explore, climb trees, pick flowers, watch wildlife, play in the dirt, listen to read-aloud stories, build forts, create stick and rock structures, collect leaves and seeds, run, and play. We want children to savor these precious early years by using their imaginations and exploring the beautiful outdoors. Students will get to enjoy all the different terrains that our natural area has to offer: open trails, eucalyptus tree groves, our working, educational farm, flower fields, the beach, and grassy open spaces.

Ages 3-6 are welcome; children must be fully potty trained. Terrain’s small group size allows teachers to gently guide students as they learn to practice kindness, sharing, healthy risk-taking, empathy for others and for nature, and more- all while having awesome adventures in the outdoors.
